After training with the National Youth Theatre, Tanya was cast as JD the lead in two films, both written by the NYT’s Artistic Director John Hoggarth, produced in conjunction with BBC and staring names such as Cathy Tyson, Linda Bellingham, Jimmy Akingbola and Joel Dommett. After working in the industry a number of years, Tanya went to RADA to do her training. There she learnt the classics, kabuki, commedia dell’arte, Artaud, Brecht, Meisner, Stanislavski and many other forms of acting method.
It was on BBC comedies such as Ideal with Johnny Vegas, We are Klang with Greg Davies and children’s cult comedy Kerching! working with actors such as Gary Beadle, Kayvan Novak and Danny John Jules where Tanya found her flare for comedy. Her recent work includes Sally Wainwright’s Happy Valley, Brief Encounters with Penelope Wilton and Russell T Davies’ Banana.
Tanya is a budding writer having trained with Madani Younis and Ola Animashawun in the Critical Mass playwriting programme at The Royal Court Theatre. She also produced and launched the very first MonologueSlam UK Leeds in 2011 and works extensively as a producer in her own right.
