I’m thrilled to share a deep dive into the incredible history of bassline music, written by me for Bradford 2025. The article explores how this quintessentially British genre grew from its roots at Niche in Sheffield to become a defining sound in Bradford’s music scene, leading us to Bassline Symphony—a world-first orchestral celebration of bassline music, which I’m honored to curate.

Taking place on May 9, 2025, at St. George’s Hall, Bassline Symphony will feature iconic DJs Jamie Duggan, TS7, and DJ Q collaborating with the Orchestra of Opera North. This one-night-only event will bring together generations of bassline lovers and reimagine the genre with a full classical orchestra—an unmissable celebration of Bradford’s musical heritage.
